Quick Overview

The wine has deep, dark berry aromas, blueberry and chocolate flavors through the mid palate, finishing with black pepper spice.

Product Description

The grapes were cold soaked for three days to promote extraction and concentration. They were then fermented in 3/4 ton open top fermenters and hand-punched 3x per day for maximum development of color and varietal flavors. The wine was direct pressed to barrels composed of French and American Oak where it finished Malo-Lactic fermentation, and then aged for 18 months in barrel.

Winemaker Profile Glenn Proctor
Puccioni Vineyards is run by Glenn Proctor and his wife, Laurie. Glenn is the fourth generation of Puccioni winegrowers in California. He has been in the wine business, outside his family's activities, for almost 18 years. He attended Healdsburg High School, C.S.U. Fresno for his Bachelors in Viticulture and then U.C. Davis for his Master's Degree in Viticulture - taking all the winemaking courses he could along the way. Glenn started his career by working with Glen Ellen Winery and Benziger Family Winery in the late 80's and at BV and Sterling where he was the Vice President of Winegrowing, working with all the BV and Sterling wines and grapes. In 2003 he joined the Ciatti Company, where he is a Partner.

Glenn's dream has always been to make wine from his family's ranch. When Glenn was a young boy he worked every weekend with his grandfather, Louie Puccioni, in the vineyard. Grandpa taught him the "hows and whys" of the wine and grape business, and with the release of Puccioni Vineyards "Old Vine" Zinfandel, he can now showcase all that he has learned.
