Product Description
A deep, dark, brooding, mouth filling expression of the Petite Sirah variety. Somewhat less tannic than many with an approachable fruit component. This Petite Sirah vineyard is planted hillside at MoniClaire in the Dry Creek Valley.

| Winemaker Profile | Mary Beth and Peter Smiderle planted their first Chardonnay vineyard in 1986 in the Los Gatos hills, and soon after began experimenting with different varitals. As their interest increased and skills improved, they set their sights on eventually settling in one of California's premier grape growing regions. They were lucky to have found a great property in the Dry Creek Valley. Peter's experience with grape growing and wine making came at the side of his father, who was an accomplished winemaker in Southern California. His skill in winemaking, his encouragement and guidance fueled his passion, and inspires him even in his absence. In 2000 they planted their first commercial vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County. Most of the five planted acres are head pruned in the old Italian style to ensure powerful flavors with intense varietal characteristics. MoniClaire is the name they chose for their vineyard. It is the combined name of their two daughters, Monica and Claire. |
