Quick Overview

An opaque, inky dark purple color bordering on black leads to aromas of blueberry jam, blackberries, vanilla smoke, cinnamon and bacon fat.

Product Description

The wine enters the mouth with fat, rich powerful layers of big fruit. A sumptuous middle palate with loads of barrel tannins and a beautiful structure lead to an elegant and lasting finish. This is true California Syrah that accurately reflects the terroir in which it is grown.

Winemaker Profile Ross Battersby
Ross started his career in the wine industry in 1994 at Stonestreet Winery. In 1997, after three harvests under Steve Test and Mike Westrick, Ross moved to Limerick Lane Cellars, an estate Zinfandel producer in Healdsburg. A British citizen, Ross has an Honors degree in Agricultural Economics, from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Ross spent many years as a safari guide in Africa (where he met his wife, a Detroit native) and subsequently managed an international adventure travel company in Berkeley, CA.

Ross's formal education and his experience fixing anything that had wheels in Africa fits well with the small 5000 case winery. Under owner Michael Collins, Ross has flourished, running an efficient, clean cellar and directing wine operations and sales.

Ross is involved with the Vintage Hills Tasting Group, featuring wines and winemakers from Sonoma and Napa Counties.
